Friday, February 24, 2012, at 7:30 p.m., the Parker Symphony Orchestra, formerly South Suburban
Community Orchestra, will have an "Americana" concert. On the program are Howard Hanson's
Symphony No. 2 "Romantic", John Williams's Overture from "The Cowboys", and Aaron Copland's
Lincoln Portrait. Parker Mayor David Casiano will be narrating for the "Portrait". Special for the evening
will be a performance by the winner of the orchestra's young soloist competition, cellist Kelcey Howell.
She will be performing Joseph Haydn's Cello Concerto No. 2 in D major with a select group of musicians
from the orchestra. A reception will follow the concert.
Concert will be held at the PACE Center, 20000 Pikes Peak Ave., in Parker, Colorado. Tickets may be
purchased at PACEtickets@parkeronline.org or at the PACE Center.
